This is really a very nice topic regarding everyone’s family. Agree with Extreme John that he hate the idea of Family Guy exiting stage left.

Hi Extreme John, I agree with you. I think Family Guy still has plenty of life left in it, but the writers just seem like they want to kill the show at times. There have been times during this season when I’ve been flat out disgusted with the show. Not because I was offended, but because I see it as a bunch of people who don’t seem to care that they have a hit show, and are taking a lousy attitude and work ethic towards it.

Of course, the show has had it’s share of moments, and when the show is good, I think it is REALLY good. Those good moments, unfortunately, are starting to get drowned out by the bad moments.

I hate the idea of Family Guy exiting stage left, I do think however that your points are right on. This season I either LOVE the episode or I hate it and turn it off. When I hate it… I REAAAAALLLLYYY hate it.

Hi Jannie. I agree that South Park is the greatest. Last night’s episode, “Dances With Smurfs” was one of my favorites in a while. And the turnover rate for their episodes is so fast, despite how funny and creative they can be. For instance, sometimes they can turn out an episode within a few days, but now it takes Family Guy up to 2 years to produce an episode.

I’ve only seen it maybe once or twice so have no real opinion.

For me it’s South Park. I still remember the first episode I saw of it with Cartman being the Tooth Fairy, I thought it was the greatest show ever,and still do.

Hi Mitch, thanks for stopping by! I guess since Mystery Science Theater 3000 is no longer on TV, then Family Guy might be a contender for “funniest” show on TV. My problem with FG is that oftentimes, it thinks that it’s funnier than it is. You mentioned the Bird episode, and for instance, they overdid the “Bird is the Word” gag WAY too much in that episode. It was funny at first, but like a lot of the jokes they do, it just kept going and going until it was more annoying than anything, at least in my opinion.

I just think that the glory days of Family Guy are over, and it should end while it still has a little bit of dignity left. In my opinion, they haven’t produced very many bad episodes, but they produced several of them during the last season, and that’s a bad sign to me.

I still love Family Guy, but I’d have to agree that it did change from when it was originally on to what it is now. They still pull some references out that are just classic, like the Geto Boys song in the middle of the Bird show, but there’s also been more raunch and bad taste that’s come along with it.

And yet, when all is said and done, it’s still the funniest show on TV, and that’s saying something in my book. I’m not sure what, though.
