@ Sire

Well, the last point should have been phrased more to mean "Don't have more than you can handle" You should be able to handle the workload of each and devote the necessary time to each one, whether it be children or careers or businesses.

@ Trina

I have a variety of talents and things that I enjoy doing, and finding ways to combine them has been an interesting pursuit for me as well. My advice is just to start combining them in whatever ways you can, even if it doesn't make sense. Eventually, things will fall into place.

@ Keith

I agree, "Love Your Career" would have been a good one to include. And yes, if you are properly raising your child or building your career or business, it should be able to eventually stand on it's own feet without your constant interference.

Love your career would also be pretty good advice and a good analogy. Of course, any good parent loves his/her children and any good career minded individual/businessperson love his career/business.

That is the beauty of an internet business based on a niche that you are passionate about. It's easy to love. Just like your kids are easier to love when you are passionate about their lives.

Another analogy might be that once your career/child gets older and more mature, you may be able take time off and see how well it/he does without you constantly in the picture. Not too much time, though, because nobody loves your child/career/business like you do.

Great thought-provoking post.

More interesting tidbits, thank you. Finding and pursuing my passion has been a challenge for me. I'm sorting through and discovering ways to put the things I enjoy, like writing, art-doodling cartoons, and voice work to use. It's still a struggle, which will hopefully make the rewards sweeter. Much like my running - nobody can do it for me but the support encourages me to keep going.

Pretty good Trey, and you could easily substitute business for career. I especially agree with your last point in regards to careers, but not when it comes to kids. I know a lot of people, myself included, who have two fairly close together so they have someone to grow up and bond with.

Hi TechChunks, thanks for the praise. And no, it wasn't intentional. It's been fixed since then. I had to reload a file, and forgot to input the text again. Thanks for the reminder!

Nice analogy between your child and your career. I loved the comparison and agree to your views.

P.S. I noticed that your comment form lacks field labels. Wonder if this is intentional.
