I've written about analysis paralysis before, where someone will spend too long in the planning stage and never go out and actually get things done. The key is to write your business plan in such a way that it focuses on the little goals as well as the big goals. That helps to keep your business in perspective. So with you being a cynic when it comes to business plans, it's nice to know I got your seal of approval regarding this post. That’s how a lot of business plans end up being created… because someone in power insists on it. I’ve written about analysis paralysis before, where someone will spend too long in the planning stage and never go out and actually get things done. The key is to write your business plan in such a way that it focuses on the little goals as well as the big goals. That helps to keep your business in perspective.

I say willingly because at the moment I'm running a franchise and they insist on a yearly business plan. I just put together a whole lot of crap to shut them up. I suppose my problem is that I have never been goal orientated. Perhaps if I had a business plan I would now be a millionaire. I don't know. I do know that I have survived where others have not, but perhaps that's just plain dumb luck. Having said that, reading this almost made be change my views on having a business plan.
