Man, I really gotta try to get back to the Gathering this year... Good stuff, Trey! It really is hard to capture the experience on film, but if you've been there before, your video definitely brings back some of those feelings. Well done, sir!

Also, glad to see you checked out some of the 2nd stage acts! When I was there, my boys performed on the 2nd stage in front of only about 25 people. Granted, it was 1pm and it was INSANELY hot that day. lol

You bring up some interesting points.

It's not so much that I think people should be all up in arms and having candlelight vigils over her. There's been plenty of deaths, celebrity and non-celebritiy that I've been indifferent to.

What does bother me is when people go out of their way to proclaim about how much they don't care about a death such as this. It's as if they get annoyed about other people choosing to remember her or mourn her, so they have to step up and try to remind people that it's she's not worth it. I saw so many people who got tired of reading about Amy Winehouse, and I think of the sad state of humanity we are ib when such a thing as remembering the departed in a positive light is viewed as a negative or bothersome thing.

As a matter of fact, in this day and age, it's ridiculously easy to filter the information that we receive every day. 99% of the things that a person reads on the internet is probably out of choice, and not because they are a captive audience, like they would have been in the days before cable television and the internet took off.

Was she perfect? No, far from it. Did she waste her opportunities to turn her life around? Probably. Then again, we all squander the things we have that other people wish they had. No matter who you are, there's probably someone out there who hates your guts because they believe that if they had the resources that you do, they'd be able to do great things with them.

And finally, do I feel bad for her? I don't know. A little, I guess. Like I said, I'm not surprised. Any loss of life is tragic, especially when it's someone who brings happiness and inspiration to others. It comes down to this. When I'm dead and gone, I hope people will choose to remember me for my positive aspects, rather than my negative, and that's how I choose to remember Amy Winehouse.

She had boatloads more talent than the pop stars that are churned out and are corporately made today. However, I don't really feel all that sympathetic. Hardcore drug use (even Meth, in her case) is bad for you. Even if they weren't in her system at the time of death, it's not a stretch of the imagination to know they were most likely the primary contributor.

I feel more sympathy for the poor person that gets hooked on a vicious cycle of drugs due to their demoralized, impoverished circumstances and not because of a lavage life of excess (although, I also realize some people are genetically predisposed to addiction). No one cares about them. So, I'm supposed to feel bad for this person that had all the resources in the world (money, family, supporting fans that stuck through her humiliating drug-fueled stage performances) to get help if she really wanted it? No one could force her to get help. In the end, she could only help herself and chose not to do so. She not only robbed herself of life, but robbed her fans of many years of inspiration. I'm supposed to feel bad for her? Please. However, I do feel sorry for the loss. It's a shame...but I do not feel bad.

Sorry you've been feeling down, buddy. You're welcome to talk to me if at any time you feel the need too. When you're feeling like progressing forward on your new songs, still hit me up for some guitar work.

Hi William. Thanks for checking Swollen Thumb Entertainment out. I definitely meant what I said about juggalo unity. When we are united, the world truly fears us, that's why I believe that together, we can literally do anything. I do everything I do in the name of a juggalo, but I don't advertise it all of the time because I don't want anyone thinking that I'm trying to leach off of the fame of Psychopathic.

Thanks to everyone else who checked out this contest and article. I've been working on some of my best instrumentals to give away, and they're still coming out! The response to this giveaway far exceeded my expectations, and I'm working under the philosophy that "I got exactly what I asked for", so I'm excited to produce oven fresh, 100% organic beats for all of you ninjas, that I can truly be proud of. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to work with all of you! MCL

Hi Ray, sorry for my late reply. I've been busy with work, and getting ready to go on vacation... lol. I'd be interested to know more about your first impression of this site, because I'm always looking to work on that aspect. As for my opinion on rap, I think that a lot of your critiques are focused on a cultural difference. Rap came from black culture, and gangs, drugs, and jail are unfortunate realities for the black culture, especially in the 80s when rap was created. Do I think that rap can focus more on the positive? Definitely. However, I view rap as a form of self expression, and a lot of the people who are into it are of the same culture, namely the lower class, and those who have to struggle to get everything that they have. When the imagery is thus, it's defining a "niche" for the music. It's saying that "this music is for you, if you can relate to this". Of course, a lot of things in rap have become cliched, and there are different ways to express these things... so I'm not a big fan of overly cliched music, regardless of the genre... Thanks for reading and commenting!
